Character Extract Creation Final Session

Session Review

Continuing from last Thursday's session I have applied clothing, facial features and muscle definition to the character Abraces; however, it I must say the most tedious moment during the turn around character sheets development was attempting to draw the facial features and make each face have the same constancy of detail.

The challenging part of creating the environmental sketch was firstly thinking of what to place on the altar to Isis and secondly how to add depth of life and character to the temple entrance.

I decided to apply a darker stroke to each of my drawings using coal; however, without using a black pen this time because I preferred the rough effect and smudge stains that the graphite and cola that the pencils applied to the sheets.

To conclude these production logs, I truly feel satisfied with this module and the tutor Omid because once I left college I had given my self certain skills that either needed to be learned or improved upon. The first begin I wished to draw faster under stress and discover if my own personal style was acceptable for a professional market, Omid had gratefully confirmed what others had expressed in the past that your own personal style is looked for in a artist and designer. Additionally, this modules sessions have developed my ideas and helped me to conceive an idea and create it in its most basic form for in particular the animal package session is an example of this when I sketched a series of lines that would transform into shapes, these shapes would take form and transform into individual animals and continue to evolve until my chosen triangle became a lion.

Character Extract Creation session 11

Session Review

This session I have browsed through the novel of The Last Days of Pompeii in order find an extract so I could begin the creation f an environmental sketch. I remembered a particular section which is related to Abraces and describes the temple of Isis and I was successful. found a detailed description in chapter four , page twenty-seven.

It mentioned an Ibis bird statue so browsed for images of an Ibis bird and the bird depicted in its hieroglyphic form. The reason behind this decision  was so I could have a clear example of what to draw when I sketch the final hand rendering for the temple of Isis.

Additionally, I have also sketched the rough anatomy for the Abraces turn around the character sheet. i must say I am satisfied and truly impressed so far with the coherence of height, width throughout each drawing of Abraces.

Animal product design session 8

Thursday 8th January 2014

Session Review

During today's session I have continued to edit my existing package; however, last Wednesday during the official class session I asked the question on either it was acceptable to use a custom package for our product, Omid replied stating "Yes it was acceptable; however, you can scan or copy an existing brand names package design and simply place your animal mascot on to the package".

This reply helped clarify a lot of questions that were preventing me from completing my design; however, I have also started to draw my turn around the character sheet for the Egyptian priest Abraces. Since I am more devoted to the completion of Abraces and brief two I have made the decision to end the production for the animal package.

Character Extract Creation session 10

Saturday 3rd January 2015

Session Review

Overall this mornings session went very well because I was able to mold and create Abraces priestly robes. Which looked very impressive; however, creating his eye sockets was challenging becuase I had to scrap out as substantial amount from the top layer of his forehead. Then try and create two deep eye sockets, since the extract described Abraces having beady eyes. I had eventually accomplished creating believable eye sockets, by using the end of a metal tea spoon.

However, I will need to finish sawing the log of wood in half to replace that brocken CD and apply the smal ears I have created for Abraces next session.

Character Extract Creation session 9

Wednesday 24th December 2014

Session Review

For today's session I traveled to my local river and searched for a log that would serve as Abraces new stand. The reason why I wanted to change the CD disk stand is firstly because I had to break it in half to fit the Abraces model into my toolbox while taking him out of university. Secondly I feel that a wooden model stand once cleaned and sanded down would have a more professional look to the finished clay model.

Character Extract Creation session 8

Tuesday 16th December 2014

Session Review

Today I have applied additional clay to the Abraces model, in areas such as his left leg which was showing his wire frame skeleton. Also, I have finally cut off that strand of wire pocking through the top of Abraces head and smoothed his head down.

After smoothing down the uneven layers of clay, I proceeded to grab a fresh ball of clay and create a loincloth for Abraces. I had to improvise and use the tissue stand as a rolling pin, which did a nice job in flattening the clay; however, unfortunately, the loincloth was to short in length but looks appealing regardless.

So next session besides creating a lengthier loin cloth for Abraces, I will proceed to further improve his face and limbs.

Character Extract Creation session 7

Saturday 13th December 2014

Session Review

Today I have ventured outside to my local hardware shop and bought a heat gun and some glue sticks since, I plan to place the clay Abraces on a wooden stand instead of broken CD.

As for the wooden stand itself I will just get my wood cuttign axe and cut a nice log of wood from te fallen trees near the field. The craftign knives I found in Hobby Craft were normally fro small table top or display fugurines. So I will have to use my knife as usual to shave and carve the wooden tree stand.
