Animal product design session 6

Session Review

After contemplating on my list of tea companies I have begun to doubt whether I should choose Dandy Lion tea as my client since they already have a good logo; However, the Ethiopian tea Black Lion tea does not.

From what I could see on their packaging was the picture of a lion and a basic design. So I will keep their original colour scheme however use my symbol of the ion to make their company look allot more visually appealing and professional.

After editing that packaging template I had discovered online yesterday, I had used a yellow background originally for the package however it looked distasteful, so I tried the shade of red from the black lion colour scheme and it certainly improved the packages visually enticement.

Ok the development of the package itself is progressing well since I have managed to acquire the relevant East African company logo and put relevant information on most of the box. However, I will need another session possibly next week Tuesday or Wednesday to finish this off.

I even maybe inquisitive to find out what Black Lion actually tastes like?

Animal product design session 5

Thursday 23rd October 2014

Session Review

As I mentioned in the last production log, I have begun to the construction of a mood board which will be displayed amongst my drawings in the sketchbook. However, since I have chosen to use the lion design I have attempted to find companies that either support the well fare of the lion species or promote certain animal charities so far no luck.

However, I have not found a series of tea companies that use a lion as their symbols such as Dandy Lion Tea, White Lion Tea and an Ethiopian tea named Black Lion Tea; So far Dandy Lion Tea is a company of interest to me and maybe chosen as the company to bear my animal design.

Following from my secondary research I proceeded to choose a tea package template and remove all of the text and symbols on it ready for won to be placed on to it. Overall I am satisfied with the majority of work I have managed to do today since I was working on my academic writing essay as well.

Animal product design session 4

Wednesday 22nd October 2014

Session Review

After the series of sketches i have drawn I like a certain few shapes , in particular a series of triangles that seems to form a art deco male lion; I have dedicated an entire page in my sketch book to this male lion which I had originally created on the fifteenth  of October.

However, if I decide to stick with the lion and further develop him, it will be a good animal mascot to use to promote the endangerment of the lion species; which would provide a strong reason to place that certain animal on the cover of  a branded product.

Another point of interest will be the overall design of the blog has improved for those of you who have interest in my production logs?

Animal product design session 3

Tuesday 21st  October 2014

Session Review

Today's session went well for after sketching out five pages of drawings from my mind , I feel it is time to look at existing characters and mascots for advertising and paste any images I preferr in a mood board.

Fortunately the assignment I have been given from Design Skills and Theory where I have to design a nursery rhyme is linked to this assignment. The reason these two modules are linked is because  I have chosen to re tell the story of the billy goats gruff so the mood board I have created for that which contains signs posts for animals and zoos can be used as further secondary research to take ideas from.

Animal product design session 2

Session Review

I have continued to sketch additional rough drawings of animal shapes and like the previous session I am testing out different types of drawing tools such as marker pens, pencils, pastels and coal. However, so far I prefer the pen to sketch with since I love the rough bold quality it produces.

I will take some time to continue the production of my Creative Digital Media and Design Skills and theory assignments which at the moment are the most critical.

Animal product design session 1

Session Review

I had received and carefully accepted the feedback given by Omid and sketched some simple drawings , using shapes to create some very nice designs of animals and other bizarre creatures.

It would seem the satisfactory designs are usually created while I am at the train station, outside or on the train itself.

The Thief Maker final session

Session Review

I have heeded my tutor Omids advice, on keeping,  simplicity,  throughout all of my future character design sketches; So later during the day aboard the train. I have created a new sheet of designs for the thief maker character; The sketches displayed small scenarios of the thief maker walking around with a cane and then turning that cane on to the catch fire orphans who failed one of his tasks.

I will see how these concepts are perceived by Omid and see if there is any other areas I need to improve upon.

Rottcodd and Mr Flay Character Designs Review and Thief maker Creation Stage 1

Wednesday 8th October 2014

Session Review

Today's session was very entertaining just as the two previous introductory sessions; however,  the majority of our class sits in silence just like some of my classmates in the game development class back in college which can be a pain and blessing at times.

Our class tutor Omid took a look at my sketches for the characters Rottcodd and Mr Flay from the book Germanghast and continued to give my good critical advice, mentioning how for character development I should continue to draw simple little doodles of the characters silhouette or basic shapes with minimal detail to get a variety of designs and shapes.

Also the next task Omid issued out to the class wil be a lot of fun because I really liked the character the thief maker from the extract e read in class audio he seems like a Faggen meets Jack Sparrow type of character and sketching him out on paper will be a lot of fun.
